Executives at Fox have officially announced that Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller will star in the new Prison Break sequel. New and young fans were the perfect ingredient to make this late 00’s drama series explode on Netflix, giving Fox the opportunity to cook up a Prison Break sequel.
Last airing in 2009, both new and die-hard fans are left with questions, puzzled at how the show will be able to bring so many characters back from the dead. Fox co-chairman Dana Walden has complete confidence that fans will find the story behind the characters’ return believable, stating “ What Scheuring pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world.”
With the final season of Prison Break completed without his oversight, Scheuring is happy to get the opportunity to finish the story the way he’d like. Walden feels fans will be thrilled to see these brothers in action again, along with some of the other memorable characters.
Scheuring is working to create a 10 episode follow-up story for the Prison Break sequel, set to take place several years after where the series left off. There’s no set premiere date yet, but one thing’s for sure, this is one prison break you can actually look forward to!
UPDATE: Prison Break: Sequel premieres on April 4, 2017 at 9 pm. There are currently 9 episodes planned, airing Tuesdays on FOX each week until May 30th.
