In case you missed it, last night’s ACM Awards ended on a high note with a Florida Georgia Line/Backstreet Boys mashup. The two boy bands are currently enjoying the success of their collaboration, ‘God, Your Mama, and Me,’ which is quickly rising on the country music charts. So the performance by the two bands wasn’t exactly a surprise.

What was a surprise was the inclusion of the Backstreet Boy’s classic hit ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).’ The choreographed dance moves that even Florida Georgia Line’s Brian and Tyler got in on were more than any fan could have hoped and dreamed for.

By the time this performance aired, FGL had already been presented with their ACM awards for Vocal Event of the Year (for ‘May We All’ with Tim McGraw) and Single Record of the Year (for ‘H.O.L.Y.’). The performers and the audience were ready to have fun, and it showed.

There were many incredible performances during the 2017 ACM Awards, like now 8-time ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Miranda Lambert’s emotional acoustic performance of ‘Tin Man.’ Country power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill sang their new single ‘Speak to a Girl,’ as they prepare for their 2017 world tour. Other favorites, including Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett, Sam Hunt and Jason Aldean also took the stage.

However, no one drew quite the same reaction from the ACM Awards audience and fans at home as Florida Georgia Line and the Backstreet Boys. Everyone from Buzzfeed to CMT was tweeting about the performance. While some Twitter users tried to keep things slightly professional, the Backstreet Boys were a big draw. Some succeeded more than others at keeping their excitement in check.

We’re inclined to agree with this Twitter user. Without this performance, it would have been a pretty low key ACMs.

Florida Georgia Line and the Backstreet Boys were the starts of this performance, but Tim McGraw probably deserves 3rd place. If he was tweeting about the mashup, he would have used ? too. And let’s be honest, #TimMcGrawismySpiritAnimal should be a thing.
