Blood Drive: Season 1 – June 14 at 10 pm on SyFy, channel 122 In a grindhouse-inspired world where cars run on human blood, cop Arthur Bailey (Alan Ritchson) and sidekick Grace (Christina Ochoa) encounter cults, cannibals and car rallies. This futuristic reimagining of Los Angeles isn’t for everyone, but it is certainly a departure from the usual summer TV show.

The Bold Type: Season 1 – June 11 at 9 pm on Freeform, channel 180 Teens will love this Cosmopolitan-inspired TV show on Freeform based on the life of Cosmo’s current editor Joanna Coles. The Bold Type stars Melora Hardin and Katie Sevens, following them as they work as members of the staff at Scarlet Magazine and live in the big city.

Claws: Season 1 – June 11 at 9 pm on TNT, channel 138 There’s drama and laughs in this new series, set in a sunny Florida nail salon. Claws features five women all working as manicurists in their new salon but getting caught up in their pasts as well. With the comedic power of Niecy Nash and her costars, fancy nail art and a slew of good looking guys, this is summer TV at its finest.

Marlon: Season 1 – August 16 at 9 pm on NBC, check your local listings Marlon Wayans stars in this new self-titled sitcom based on his real-life experiences as a co-parent. He and his ex-wife are raising their kids together, despite the fact that he’s not as mature as his wife might like. At the end of the day, family comes first in this sweet comedy your clan can watch together.

The Gong Show: Season 1 – June 22 at 10 pm on ABC, check your local listings Will Arnett is reviving the 1970s favorite The Gong Show this summer on ABC. The talent show is back in its original form, with Mike Myers rumored to be the host and a rotating cast of judges including Jack Black, Will Forte, Alison Brie, Andy Samberg, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, Zach Galifianakis and more. With this lineup, The Gong is sure to be a hysterical trip back in time.

The Mist: Season 1 – June 22 on Spike, channel 241
Stephen King’s The Mist, which was reimagined in 2007 as a horror movie of the same name, is making its debut on the small screen. Spike will premiere The Mist starring Morgan Spector as Kevin Copeland and Alyssa Sutherland as Eve Copeland. Both mystery and mist cover this town throughout the first season.

Salvation: Season 1 – July 12 at 9 pm on CBS, check your local listings CBS has a limited number of new TV shows this summer and is betting that Salvation will be a success. This thriller follows an unlikely team of techies and a government official as they grapple with the discovery that Earth might be destroyed by an asteroid in 6 short months.

7 Great Summer TV Shows Returning in 2017

American Ninja Warrior: Season 9 – June 12 at 8 pm on NBC, check your local listings Would it even be summer without NBC’s American Ninja Warrior? Follow these incredible athletes as they compete for a chance to move on to finals, complete with touching backstories, nearly impossible physical feats and a course more intense than ever before.

Game of Thrones: Season 7 – July 16 on HBO, channel 300 Game of Thrones is back this July on HBO, likely one of the most highly anticipated premieres not only of the summer but of the year. This season will last for seven episodes and likely be full of the same harrowing drama that make this show the cult favorite it is.

Insecure: Season 2 – July 23 at 10:30 pm on HBO, channel 300
Insecure was included on our list of must-watch fall TV, and it makes the list again this summer. Issa and Molly continue their friendship into the show’s second season with big laughs and touching insights.

Nashville: Season 5 midseason premiere – June 1 9:00 pm on CMT, channel 166 This is a show that just won’t quit, and its diehard fans are grateful for that. How will the beloved characters of this country music drama carry on without their leader Rayna? That is yet to be determined, but with a season and a half of guaranteed episodes, we have plenty of time to find out.

Orphan Black: Season 5 – June 10 at 10 pm on BBC America, channel 135
This summer brings us the fifth and final season of Orphan Black on BBC America. Tatiana Maslany stars as numerous clones, including five featured clone characters, which are joined by a strong supporting cast. The show has garnered critical acclaim in its first four seasons and will likely continue to do so.

Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update – August 10 at 9 pm on NBC, check your local listings Saturday Night Live is taking a detour to Thursdays this summer. For four weeks, Weekend Update with hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che will air in primetime and feature other cast members as well. This weeknight spot aims to help SNL take advantage of its recent success in the ratings and is welcomed by those of us who don’t always make it to late night TV.

The Great British Baking Show: Season 4 – June 16 at 9 pm on PBS, check your local listings
